The city thrives with saffron color all around. Haridwar has been one of the famous city, especially for all religious people in India. The customs, traditions and rituals of Haridwar give flame to the culture of Hinduism. People visit Haridwar for various reasons be it for asthi vishrjan, holy dip in Ganga river, leisure trips to various temples, Char Dham Yatra, Kumbh Mela, and Ardh Kumbh mela etc. There are multiple ways to reach Haridwar, You can book tickets for train as well as buses, you can get here through your vehicles too, it’s not really a tough ride.

If you are willing to come through government operated buses, then you may log on to the UPSRTC or UKSRTC websites, you can also get tickets for other states on their respective websites. The websites are customised for total convenience of the people. You can also book tickets from private tour management agencies, they have their buses running across the major cities quiet frequently.

The Haridwar ISBT was shifted from front of the Railway Station to Rishikul, for the interim period of Ardh Kumbh, as being the station and ISBT face to face, the crowd became rowdy and unmanageable. Thus, the administration made this temporary shift. But now that the Ardh Kumbh is over, The ISBT is again shifted back to the Railway road, right opposite to the entry gate of the Railway Station. Har ki Pauri is just 4kms from Haridwar ISBT.

The bus stand is huge, there is a waiting area in the mid of the ground and the buses stand encircling it. In the waiting area, there is a circular section for enquiry, there are various state enquiry divisions, and they give information regarding the delay of the bus than schedule arrival or any other issues/queries. You can sit on various installed benches to wait for your bus. There is lavatory facility also available, it is kept clean and tidy by the administration. The compound too, is usually kept spotless. Just outside the ISBT area, there are many fruit sellers, rickshaw pullers, taxi drivers and mixed up crowd bustling, waiting for the buses. Just beside the exit gate of the ISBT is the taxi stand.

The taxis are taken up for various hill stations around Haridwar. Many buses start from Haridwar, they are all lined up and the fare is also not high. There are small and medium size buses which take regular rounds between Dehradun and Haridwar or Haridwar and Rishikesh. There are deluxe, semi deluxe buses also available. Once you step out, you can see lines of hotels and food outlets near the bus stand at both sides. Some of the renowned names are like La Casa Hotel, Hotel Himalaya, Hotel Ganga Azure, Hotel Chitra Grand, Hotel Golden, Hotel Ganga Sadan, Hotel Queen and Hotel Krishna ji to name some. These hotels are some of the many lined beside the ISBT, they offer accommodation at affordable rates and some of them can even give you dine in options attached to them. There are some food outlets also, for eg: Shri Har Har Gange Pure Restaurant, Maa Vaishno Bhojnalaya, Dosa Plaza and the Hoshiyar Puri wala.

There are many snacks stalls also nearby, which will sate your immediate hunger pangs. Some juice stalls in summers and in winters the corn sellers stand with the jaggery stalls beside them. It is a busy place, E-rickshaws are also there, Vikrams starts from the front, so travelling to any local place won’t be an issue.
